The Gwyneth Hare School of Dancing was established in 1972 and since then has endeavoured to maintain a caring and happy environment in which children of all ages and abilities can learn many aspects of theatre dance.

The school offers training for examinations in Royal Academy of Dance ballet grades and I.D.T.A. tap, modern jazz and theatrecraft examinations, followed by major examinations and the option of teaching examinations for those students who show a high level of commitment.

Although a number of pupils aspire to become professional dancers, many prefer to take the classes purely for recreation.

Most children begin their training in the pre-juvenile or the pre-primary grade classes, but there are also facilities for a late beginner if required. These classes are held on Saturday mornings and last for 1 hour (30 mins ballet and 30 mins tap) and when nearing an exam, an extra coaching lesson during the week. From Primary grade upward all pupils take an additional body conditioning class, also on a Saturday morning.

On reaching grade 2, pupils then attend twice weekly, an extra ballet class being taken on a Tuesday. At this level, modern-jazz & theatrecraft classes are offered, enabling pupils to experience a wider variety of dance styles.
